Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Where is Reverie Studio Located?
Reverie Studio is located in Kenai, Alaska. Sessions are available in my private studio (by appointment only) or outdoors throughout Kenai, Soldotna, and the surrounding areas. I also travel to Anchorage, Homer, Seward, and other destinations beyond Alaska.
Do you travel for sessions?
Yes. I frequently travel across Alaska and beyond for weddings, elopements, and destination sessions. Travel fees vary based on distance and logistics — just ask and I’ll walk you through every detail.
How far in advance should I book?
Weddings typically book 6–18 months in advance.
Newborn and maternity sessions book 1–3 months ahead.
Family sessions book 2–8 weeks ahead.
If you need something sooner, please reach out , I may have last-minute availability.
How do I book a session?
Simply fill out my contact form, and a session proposal will be emailed to you right away. From there, I will reply within 24–48 hours with availability and next steps. A signed contract and retainer officially secure your date.
PRICING, PAYMENTS & POLICIES
What is required to reserve my date?
A retainer and signed contract are required to officially secure your session or wedding date.
Do you offer payment plans?
Most sessions, when booked far enough in advance allow flexible payment option in your own Client Portal’s invoice section. Session fees are required to be paid in full prior to your session date.
When is the remaining balance due?
Collections are required to be paid in full at the time your online gallery is delivered, in order to receive access to your digital downloads. Wedding balances are typically due 30 days before your event.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
A non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your date. If you need to reschedule and give 48–72 hours’ notice, your retainer can be credited toward a future session within one year. Cancellations without rescheduling forfeit the retainer. Rescheduling without notice may incur a $50 fee, and cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be invoiced at the minimum Timeless Collection rate. If Reverie Studio must cancel due to illness or an unexpected emergency, your retainer will be refunded or transferred to a new date.
What if you have an emergency on our session day?
In the unlikely event of serious emergency or illness, I will reschedule your session or provide an approved associate photographer for weddings. Your memories will always be protected.
What if we are running late?
I completely understand that life happens—please just let me know as soon as possible. I’ll always do my best to accommodate, though late arrivals may shorten your session based on the schedule. If arrival is 15 minutes or more late, the lost time will be deducted and a late fee may apply, including stylist fees if a styling appointment was scheduled.
Are travel fees required?
Travel within Kenai and Soldotna is complimentary.
Sessions outside these areas may require mileage or travel fees, which I’ll provide upfront during booking.
PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
Do you provide wardrobe or styling?
Women have access to the Reverie Studio Client Closet, which includes curated gowns in flattering and versatile sizing. For Newborn Sessions, the studio has a fully stocked supply of wraps, newborn headbands, and timeless props. I also provide assistance to help you choose outfits for your family that photograph beautifully.
Do you help select locations?
Absolutely. I’ll recommend locations based on your style, aesthetic, and the season. Whether you love beaches, forests, mountain overlooks, or indoor studio sessions, I’ll help guide you.
What if the weather is bad?
If the weather isn’t ideal, we will either adjust timing, switch locations, or reschedule. Your safety and comfort (and my camera) always come first. Alaska can be pretty unpredictable, so I typically like to wait until the night before or the morning of to make a decision on rescheduling.
Can we include pets?
Yes — pets are part of the family! Just let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly. Essentially I compare animal to toddler.. they’re unpredictable, have a mind of their own, and can get overwhelmed easily. To aim for success, be sure to bring a leash for dogs, any extra special treats to them, and let me know if there are any particulars or “need to know” things about their preferences/personalities.
NEWBORN SESSION QUESTIONS
When is the best time to photograph a newborn?
The ideal window is between 7–21 days old, when babies are naturally sleepy and snuggly. However, I happily photograph newborns up to 8 weeks old with a more lifestyle-focused approach.
What do I need to bring?
If you’re booking a Simple Newborn Session (baby only), you don’t need to bring anything unless you have a sentimental or themed item to include. Nothing but your baby. I provide wraps, outfits, blankets, headbands, timeless props, and everything needed for a safe, cozy session. If you’re booking a Luxe Newborn Session (including family), all moms have access to the Reverie Studio Client Closet, which includes curated gowns in both flattering and versatile sizing. The studio has a minimal amount of dresses stocked for younger girls to toddlers, in case you’re in a pinch or the session was booked last minute. For the boys, we like to keep it simple and you can usually find them something already in their closets (think jeans/khakis paired with a solid t-shirt, henly, or knit sweater). The studio’s setup is very simple and timeless (informal) so shoes aren’t neccessary.
What if my baby is fussy or doesn’t sleep?
It’s completely normal. I take a calm, patient approach and follow baby’s cues. Sessions are never rushed, and there is always plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks (hence the big range on newborn session times of 2-4hrs). Approximately 4 days prior to your session date, you will receive my custom Newborn Session Prep Guide which includes some great tips on how to plan ahead to help promote efficiency for your session to be a relaxed and wonderful experience for both you and your baby.
MATERNITY SESSION QUESTIONS
When should I schedule my maternity session?
The sweet spot is between 28–34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully full but you’re still comfortable moving around.
Do you provide maternity gowns?
Yes — the Client Closet includes a selection of elegant gowns designed to flatter all baby bumps. If you’re looking for something specific, please reach out and I can provide links to some amazing resources specifically for maternity gowns.
Can my partner or children join?
Absolutely! These sessions are about celebrating your growing family.
Can we do both indoor and outdoor photos?
Yes. For local outdoor locations, we can easily combine a studio portion and then transition outdoors for variety.
